About SonicWave MD

Medical Science & Technology

"SonicWave MD" refers to a medical application of sonic wave technology, specifically extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), which uses sound waves to treat various medical conditions. It can be used for pain relief and promoting healing in musculoskeletal and neurological disorders, as well as for conditions like erectile dysfunction.

Elaboration:

  • Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT): This therapy involves using focused or radial shock waves to treat musculoskeletal and neurological disorders. It can reduce pain, promote healing in bone, tendon, ligament, and fascia, and even reduce spasticity.
  • Low Intensity ESWT (Li-ESWT): This type of ESWT has been extensively studied for its potential to treat erectile dysfunction, with numerous studies ongoing and the therapy approved in many countries.
  • Applications: ESWT is used for a variety of conditions, including:
    • Musculoskeletal pain and inflammation (e.g., arthritis, tendonitis).
    • Bone healing, including fractures and nonunions.
    • Erectile dysfunction.
    • Spasticity in neurological disorders.
  • How it works: Sonic waves are directed at the affected area through a handheld device, traveling through the skin and into the targeted tissue. This can stimulate tissue repair, reduce pain, and promote healing.

Medical Science & Technology

Low intensity extracorporeal shock wave therapy has been studied extensively and a number of double blind studies have been undertaken, with more underway, to investigate its potential to treat erectile dysfunction in various cohorts. Studies are registered with the National Institutes of Health on ClinicalTrials.gov. Over 19 studies involving shockwaves have been registered and are listed . The therapy is currently approved in over 20 countries and many hundred clinics worldwide. The protocols and the type of device are significant devices technologies varies. Focused and radial shock waves have different effects.
